(Video) Crossbar then post: Harvey Elliott agonisingly close to delightful opening goal v Atalanta

Harvey Elliott had a glorious opportunity to put Liverpool up against Atalanta tonight, but he was prevented by not one, but two sections of goal frame.

The visitors were unable to clear a Kostas Tsimikas free kick in the 26th minute of the Europa League match at Anfield; instead, the 21-year-old moved the ball to his left foot before scoring.

His curling shot went against the crossbar, bounced off the post, and eventually found its way back into play as the opposition cleared their lines.

Elliott must have been expecting to celebrate his fourth goal of the season when he got his shot off, but the woodwork denied him on the double. It was a very sad situation for him.
