Liverpool would have had “no chance” without Caoimhin Kelleher – Jurgen Klopp

Caoimhin Kelleher has been honored by Jurgen Klopp, who has stated that without his backup goalie, Liverpool would not have a chance at a season to remember.

Owing to multiple cup tournament appearances and Alisson’s recent injury, Kelleher is about to tie the Reds’ starting goalie for the most appearances (24), having been the team’s first choice.

Because of his exploits, Klopp’s team has advanced to the final rounds of the Europa League, won the League Cup, and topped the Premier League.

The boss showered the Irishman with praise, praising him and the other players for their leadership during a campaign where injuries have been a recurring theme.

Had you asked me before the season, I believe I was never hesitant to give Caoimh my praises.

You can take Ali out for an extended period of time; the reason it would have been problematic wasn’t Caoimh, but rather the fact that he never had to play so many games; you never know how that would turn out.

If Trent is absent for an extended period, what would happen? Conor was hurt and recovered from there, obviously, along with Joe.

“Had both left backs out; Robbo goes out, Kostas comes in, then Joe comes in after Kostas leaves.

“These boys handle situations and opportunities so well; their behavior is truly remarkable.”

It’s quite remarkable that we have so many players who have been out for a while and we are still where we are. You are not going to get that.

“I’m ecstatic for the boys because they can back up their claims. Although they still need to show themselves, which is fantastic, I never had any doubts about them.

“Very excellent season; we would not be in this position without Caoimhin Kelleher.”
