The Packers are considering wearing different colored uniforms and issuing blizzard warnings in the late summer heat of August. Matt LaFleur, the coach, is ready for anything.
This week, the coach of the Packers declared, “I think it’s cool, I think it’s awesome.”
In case you missed the message regarding game attire, the Packers will be forgoing their customary gear for their October game against the Texans. Green Bay will wear a white on white uniform “fit for a home game at Lambeau Field” instead of a version of dark green and gold. A shimmering white helmet is the unique new item. The Packers helmet logo has a green outline on white background.
The Packers introduced new alternative look, Thursday.
The Packers haven’t completely abandoned tradition, though. Green and gold are used in the outfits, however they’re just used as stripes down the pants and on the shoulders. Additionally, the numbers are green. However, football players in the NFL and college both adore the “storm trooper” look. They can also be referred to as ice whites at times.
Ice is relevant to Green Bay’s choice. The “Winter Warning Collection” includes the new alternative style. October 20th is the Packers against. Texans game. There might be snow. Who knows? Officials from the organization, however, want supporters to wear white, purchase things from the collection, and offer the Houston players a taste of what it would be like to be in a white-out in Green Bay once winter arrives.
Additionally, uniform changes boost morale. Because beautiful looks translate into good play.
According to LaFleur, “it’s something that will bring some juice to the locker room,” she said to reporters while at training camp. “I believe the guys are enthusiastic about it.” I believe they really like them because they gave us a tiny sneak peak of it during the spring photo session.
The Packers have previously worn a lot of white. Only the veterans, though, will recall. The Green Bay Gazette stated that in 1938, the team wore white clothes. Through the 1940s and 1950s, they would don them for select games. The 1956 home opener at Lambeau Field marked the debut of players donning white helmets. After that, they retained the helmets, which they used throughout the 1958 season together with green jerseys, white slacks, and green socks. Alas, the Packers had a 1-10-1 record. The club also traveled in white uniforms during the 1960s.
In 1961, the iconic Vince Lombardi established green and gold as the go-to combination. Around that time, the helmets also acquired the iconic G logo. The Packers Hall of Fame inducts the designer.
Therefore, it’s acceptable to occasionally alter tradition.
