The eventual victor of the title fight will probably be present when the Premier League Player of the Year accolades are handed out. Stars from Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal ought to be considered, but there isn’t a clear front-runner.
Although Phil Foden has had a tremendous season, so too have Alexis Mac Allister and Martin Ødegaard for Liverpool and Arsenal, respectively. That trio of choices should be all that’s left, and the player who wins the Premier League will probably have the advantage.
If they hadn’t been sidelined for extended periods of time or performed worse than they did the previous season, Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, and Mohamed Salah would have all been discussed. Perhaps even Virgil van Dijk and Declan Rice should have been included. However, the player who is more aggressive usually takes home the gong.
What is Mac Allister’s situation? This season, he has been outstanding for Liverpool in both of his midfield roles. Compared to everyone else the Reds bought in 2023, the Argentine has obviously adapted to life at Anfield the best.
Mac Allister has taken command of Liverpool’s situation and drastically changed the midfield. Although Jordan Henderson and Fabinho appeared jaded last season and both moved on, the stories of Roméo Lavia and Moisés Caicedo raised doubts about Liverpool’s future for many.
After several months, Mac Allister is now a fully fledged midfield player. Few players can equal the 24-year-old’s creative flair and disruptive presence at the base of Jürgen Klopp’s midfield at Anfield. His improbable strength is comparable to that of Luka Modrić, another player who had the ideal balance of strength and style.
At a mere $43 million (£35 million/€41 million), Mac Allister was the summertime steal. Additionally, whoever replaces Klopp at Liverpool will automatically start one player in their starting lineup. In addition to Alisson, Andy Robertson, Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah, Mac Allister is also untouchable when everyone is healthy.
Although Ødegaard is entertaining and Foden is excellent, Mac Allister will have proved to be the difference if Liverpool manages to overcome the opposition in the Premier League title battle. He is by far the largest contributor to the most evident contract that exists between the Liverpool midfield this year and last.
